Shack Hover Rig

The Shack Hover Rig is a specialized fishing rig, primarily utilized in bass fishing, as well as salt water application  designed to present soft plastic baits in a horizontal, gliding manner. This presentation mimics the natural movement of live baitfish, making it particularly effective for targeting wary or suspended fish in pressured fisheries. The rig’s key feature is a 90-degree line-tie, which, combined with an internally weighted design, allows the bait to hover or glide at a consistent depth in the water column. This finesse approach is ideal for situations where fish are less active or in heavily fished areas, requiring a subtle, lifelike presentation to trigger bites.

Hover rigs are highly versatile, usable at various depths, from targeting suspended fish to fishing along the bottom. They excel with soft plastic jerkbaits, swimbaits, and fluke-style minnows and is absolutely deadly when combined with Forward Facing Sonar ( live scoping ).
